Times Change welcomed visitor from
the Women's Development Foundation, South Africa
June 4th 2009

On Thursday June 4th 2009, Times Change welcomed South African Ms. Nonthlanthla Jordan as part of an information sharing initiative by Times Change.
Ms. Jordan is the CEO of the Women's Development Foundation (WDF), a prominent non-governmental organisation that focuses on professional leadership development and governance training for women in South Africa. She has worked tirelessly towards women's advocacy and supports building women's technical and leadership skills, and improving their confidence, and self-esteem through government funded opportunities.
Ms. Jordan was extremely impressed with the services Times Change offered and commented on the well-organized and wide variety of resources available to women. She says that South Africa is lacking in their provision of employment services, yet struggle with a 40% unemployment rate in the Eastern Cape, with some districts having rates as high as 65%. Women also carry additional barriers to employment, as cultural and traditional factors negate their progress along with poverty and lack of education.
Ms. Jordan hopes to convey the ideas shared and the lessons learned at Times Change to the Women's Development Foundation and propose similar interventions to her community development partners in South Africa. Times Change enjoyed sharing their knowledge and expertise of employment services for women and hope its agency has inspired a grassroots employment centre for women in South Africa.
Nkosi, (thank you) Ms. Jordan for visiting Times Change Women's Employment Service!
