BMO Recruitment Team gives Times Change Clients Resume and Interview Advice
Thank you to Bank of Montreal's Daphne Hamilton, Karen Belec, Joy Ngo, and Mary Berlin for and detailing resume do's and don'ts at Times Change Women's Employment Service and giving tips on what they want to see when they interview a candidate.
On the resume, make sure you pay attention to the details. They have seen many resumes which are titled to another bank or misspelling or inappropriate salutations on the cover letter. "If a resume says 'Mr. Berlin, is that demonstrating your attention to detail to me?" Karen asked.
Knowing the company well and the position you are applying for may seem like a no-brainer but Karen and Mary have seen it happen. Reading up on BMO's latest news, and clearly knowing what the job description is, will all help towards a successful interview.
Having the proper business attire, accessories and no perfume, plus arriving early 'but not too early! 5- 10 minutes' warned Karen and Joy, are all essential tips in making a good first impression.
Do you think you'd like to work at BMO but unsure what it would be like? "The culture is collaborative" with priding itself on its diversity and being prepared to "work hard and play hard" Karen says. BMO is one of United Way's largest corporate donors and BMO staff participates in a variety of events throughout the year to raise money for charities.
Thank you BMO!
