I am an older worker. Last year I lost my middle management human resources position due to restructuring in the firm in which I worked for fifteen years.
My group consisted of women from a wide variety of backgrounds. Several women were new immigrants to Canada. They were experiencing the painful irony of not being able find work here because they have no Canadian work experience. Other women had been sidelined from their careers for various lengths of time by illness or family obligations and were now ready to re-enter the workforce. Like myself there were several other mature workers looking for work in an environment inhospitable to those thought to be past their working prime.
The staff at Times Change were warm, innovative yet business-like in their approach to helping us solve the unique problems we were facing.
What I like about Times Change is that there is something for everyone. There is a wealth of information and an absence of dogma and rules. Participants can avail themselves of whatever information and resources they are ready to absorb.
I hope Times Change will be around for my daughters and granddaughters if they ever experience obstacles in their careers.
